The project was devised with Professor Birgit Beumers and is also available as an app How the Pictures Learnt to Walk. It is now held at Bristol University’s Theatre Collection after a successful tour that included exhibition at the Museum of Pre-Cinema Minici Zotti, Padua, Italy and at the International Stummfilmfest in Bonn (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/news/2013/9129.html).
Julia now runs the RAM collaborative project between Animation students at the Bristol School of Animation and Composition students at the Royal Academy of Music. Julia’s involvement in the project, which was originally devised by John Ross and Professor Simon Bainbridge, has directed it towards new screen spaces, the use of new technologies and the production of immersive cinema in the long tradition of ‘Visual Music’ and Absolute Film.
