Cameraless Animation Workshop

Last week we had the opportunity to try out experimental filmmaking in the animation department. Set up by tutor Julia Bracegirdle, we were joined by filmmaker Vicky Smith (Bristol Expanded and Experimental Film) who showed our students the techniques of cameraless animation.

Drawing, inking and scratching straight on to film was a fun process and allowed a sense of play and spontaneity. Each workshop ended with a premiere of our completed films using a 16mm projector.
